Oman’s first freehold real estate development welcomes first resident
The Wave, Muscat achieved a hugely significant landmark in its development as it welcomed its first home owner into Oman’s first freehold Integrated Tourism Complex last week.
Under the auspices of the Undersecretary, Ministry of Tourism, Mohammed bin Hamoud Al Toobi, Sander Janssen, Counselor, from the Dutch Embassy, Nick Smith, CEO The Wave, Muscat, Abdulla Al Shidi, Deputy CEO, The Wave, Muscat and other high ranking officials from the management team at the Wave, Muscat, the keys to villa No. 2 were handed over to Mr. and Mrs. Van Buitenen from Holland.
The Wave, Muscat has honoured its promise to deliver and hand over homes in Phase 1 of the development during 2008. This residential community development has effectively changed the landscape of the area and is proud to play a critical role in redefining lifestyle options in the Sultanate.
On the occasion, Hamoud Al Toobi, Undersecretary, Ministry of Tourism said,” This is a historic day for Oman, as the first expatriate family moves into Oman’s first freehold Integrated Tourism Complex. This also marks a celebration of our credibility as a country that has delivered on its promise and upheld the legislation that was passed to strengthen our diversification into the tourism sector. My congratulations to the team at The Wave, Muscat for keeping their commitment of delivery of homes to their investors.”
Nick Smith, CEO, The Wave, Muscat said,”This is indeed a memorable day for us, the first homes are ready and we have now begun the hand over process. The homes have been through vigorous quality control checks, and a definitive traffic control plan to segregate residential and construction vehicles for safety and comfort has been executed. It is a great day for both The Wave, Muscat and Oman as we welcome the first residents into the Sultanate’s first Integrated Tourism Complex.
The sheer scale and speed of development at The Wave, Muscat has helped turn Oman into a dynamic “hotspot” in the Middle East. We have come a long way in a very short space of time. We have been able to do so because we have worked as a team with the highest quality partners and contractors within the Sultanate, which has culminated in the creation of inspirational communities and lifestyles. Each handover throughout the rest of the development is going be a testament of our promise to develop The Wave, Muscat as a great place to live and a place of choice for investors and visitors alike.” This is certainly the case for Mr. and Mrs. Van Buitenen who became the first home owners to receive the handover of their property. It was an emotional moment for the family as they received the keys to their home at The Wave, Muscat. Mr. Van Buitenen fondly remembers the first day when he went to the sales office and is delighted he made the decision to invest in Oman’s first freehold real estate development.
Smith said, “We are in the business of offering a lifestyle opportunity, which helps people realize their dreams. What we have been able to do for this family and for many of the other residents has, in part, been directed by them via the focus groups with our customers. The project will of course develop over time, and our residents will see the Fairmont and Kempinski hotels, the Greg Norman Golf course, the vibrant marina and village area come to life. This is the day that the new heart of Muscat starts beating”.
The Wave, Muscat is being developed through a joint venture comprising Oman’s Waterfront Investments (representing the Government of the Sultanate of Oman), National Investment funds Company (representing the Omani Pension Funds) and the UAE-based Majid Al Futtaim Group.
