Second Round of 2011 Tour of Oman to Kick Off From The Wave, Muscat


The Wave, Muscat is playing host to the second round of the 2011 Tour of Oman which will head to Al Wuttayah from its main boulevard on February 16th at 12:30pm. The highly anticipated event is one of the many attractions of this year’s Muscat Festival and consists of an impressive lineup of 16 teams who will be competing back-to-back against some of the world’s best professional cyclists. Winning teams will then participate in Tour de’ France later on this year.

 

The Tour of Oman aims to showcase the nation’s various infrastructure and tourist attractions to the world by drawing immense international attention and promoting foreign investment, invigorating trade, in addition to stimulating overall economic activity in the country. The Tour will cover a number of key regions of the Sultanate including Muscat, Al Batinah, Al Dhakaliyah and Al Dhahirah. Hundreds and thousands of spectators are likely to witness the race which will complete 5 stages and 1 time trials over a distance of 850 Kms.

The start of the second round will take place along the main boulevard of The Wave, Muscat’s residential area where bikers and spectators will gather and kick off the start of the race. The Wave, Muscat endeavors to limit any impact this event may create to local residents particularly focusing on traffic flow, noise pollution, restriction of movement and cleanliness of the overall area.
